Making your will
This is no longer the daunting task it used to be. Because of our use of information technology, we are often able to take sufficient details for a simple will during a 20-minute telephone call. Your will is then drafted and e-mailed to you for approval.
If you prefer the more personal approach, our friendly Probate team will explain to you, using plain English, how wills can be used to minimise inheritance tax and how to make sure that your estate goes to the person of your choice.
Divorce automatically affects existing wills. If, for example, you wish to leave your estate to your children, you should consider setting up a Discretionary Trust to limit inheritance tax implications.
We offer a full will writing and tax planning service. If your estate is more complicated, we will work closely alongside your accountants or independent financial advisers.
In addition, we have a special "mature client" division to give you specialist advice on inheritance tax and residential care charges and what you might do to mitigate their effects. We also advise on enduring powers of attorney, which can be helpful if you have a relative with deteriorating mental health.
