Fixed Fee Divorce Package

The fee for an uncontested divorce will be £495 assuming that there are no unforeseen problems. In addition there will be VAT at 15% (£74.25). The court fees are £340, which includes the Divorce Petition fee and the fee for applying for Decree Absolute. The total fixed costs therefore will be £909.25.

The fee is payable in three instalments as follows:-

£284.63 - payable at your first meeting when you will need to provide completed instruction sheet (Stage 1)
£300.00 - payable when the Divorce Petition is ready to be "issued" by the court - the court fee payable at this stage is covered (Stage 2)
£324.62 - payable when we apply for the Decree Nisi (Stage 3)

The only other sums that you may have to pay are a fee of £10.00 if we need to obtain a copy of your marriage certificate and a fee of up to £9.00 when you swear your Affidavit in support of your Divorce Petition. If you swear this Affidavit at our local court, no fee is payable.

If it becomes necessary to effect personal service of the Divorce Petition upon your spouse, the extra costs will be £70.00.

There may be additional costs of an enquiry agent if your spouse fails to answer to the Divorce Petition, but these costs are usually no more than £50 plus VAT.

What work is covered?

The above work includes the first meeting with one of our Family Law team or, if more convenient a telephone call with you. You will either need to complete our Divorce Enquiry Form, or you can complete our Shortened Divorce Enquiry Form which will send us your contact details so that we can get in touch. The fixed fee covers all steps necessary to obtain your Decree Absolute, provided that the divorce remains uncontested.

Should the matter become more complex, for example, your spouse defends the proceedings or files a Cross-Petition, we reserve the right to increase the costs according to the actual work incurred, but we will always notify you as soon as possible and before any additional costs are involved.
